"Goutéééé" what? School days are long in France. Very long! And when the kids are picked up from school or kindergarten around 5 - 6 p.m. by office-stressed parents, the first thing they get is a snack (= French "Goûter", pronounced "goutéé") already at the school gate. In the past, this was simply an apple or even a banana. Today it is often unhealthy, special "Goûter" - cookies, donuts, a pain au chocolat or even two. Not very healthy but common everywhere. The goûter then bridges the long time until dinner, because the Frenchy does not sit down for dinner before 8:30 or 9 pm.
